Style Favorites: Maternity Edition

I'm currently 7 weeks postpartum and cleared to start getting back to "normal" activity. It seems like enough time to have had a look at what I wore during my pregnancy and to know what I really liked and what didn't work for me.

I showed really late, I was probably around 25-26 weeks before I had a bump that took me out of my normal clothes and even then I was still fairly small. Because of that I didn't really invest in maternity clothing. By the time I got to the point where things didn't fit or I didn't like how they fit I was less than 10 weeks from my due date.

That said, we had 3 weddings to attend this year and my baby shower. I also worked until I went into labor, which was luckily a Sunday, so I did have to dress myself until the end. Another disclaimer, I was able to have a relaxed wardrobe for work which also kept me from buying more maternity wear and using what I had in my closet.

My first favorite: Black Blanqi Maternity Leggings. I was really unsure about buying these. I saw them first in a Pinterest ad I think. I'm always super skeptical about products I'm being sent ads for but I saw them over and over again and finally there was a holiday sale, I think pre-black friday, and I went for it. I wore these ALL THE TIME after I had them. I was at the point where I was just physically uncomfortable and there wasn't a ton I could do to help it. These leggings actually helped with the low back pain I was having and I was more comfortable through out the day when I wore them. I did feel like they made me look more pregnant, possibly the belly support effect, but comfort is queen in this situation and these were stellar. For reference in the photo I was 36 weeks in the photo above. I also have their postpartum leggings which I purchased at the same time. I also really like them and I'm thinking of grabbing one of the tanks as I think they may be more wearable.

Second fave: Christopher John Rogers for Target Green Tent dress. The "waist" on this dress does not exist which makes it perfect for maternity. I bought this in the spring when I was in my first trimester and didn't wear it until a wedding in my third trimester, I believe I was around 30 weeks. So, I know I know, this was a limited run dress so it's only available now through resellers, but I wanted to give it a shout out. It hits above an empire waist line so it's super forgiving for maternity but can be purchased in your usual size and worn before and after. Also the COLOR. I love a fun color especially for "dress up"occasions and I've been living in green for the last two years so this was perfect for me. The shape made it work for any size during pregnancy and the color made me feel super confident. Even though this one specifically isn't available the style and concept can translate to other dresses.

Third fave: Sandy Liang for Target Blue Gingham Tent Dress. (Pictured above) Okay so, yes this is another tent style dress. For me this style is super comfortable and I still feel like myself. I did try a body con dress for one wedding and wore a jacket over it the whole time because I just wasn't comfortable. This dress was a dream and I'm excited to wear it postpartum as well. I've been loving gingham in the past few years and really wanted a blue gingham for my baby shower dress. Feeling like myself late in the game was really key for me and this dress fit the bill. Plus I wore my Sinclair Dr. Martens with it and felt like a badass cool mom.
