Style Favorites: Maternity Edition

I'm currently 7 weeks postpartum and cleared to start getting back to "normal" activity. It seems like enough time to have had a look at what I wore during my pregnancy and to know what I really liked and what didn't work for me.  I showed really late, I was probably around 25-26 weeks before I had a bump that took me out of my normal clothes and even then I was still fairly small. Because of that I didn't really invest in maternity clothing. By the time I got to the point where things didn't fit or I didn't like how they fit I was less than 10 weeks from my due date. That said, we had 3 weddings to attend this year and my baby shower. I also worked until I went into labor, which was luckily a Sunday, so I did have to dress myself until the end. Another disclaimer, I was able to have a relaxed wardrobe for work which also kept me from buying more maternity wear and using what I had in my closet. My first favorite: Black Blanqi Maternity Leggings . I was re

Self Care should be your New Years Resolution

Okay guys, I don’t know if you’ve been able to pick up on this but 2017 was NOT my year. I think it’s kind of depressing to look back at the end of the year and just think well that did not go as planned, but I’ve been using a bad year to help me redirect and work to make the next one better. The one thing that I am making a “Resolution” and want to impart on you guys today is Self Care.

GUYS, this is hands down the most important thing that we aren’t doing for ourselves. Whenever I take the time to do something that just for myself it makes me feel 100 times better. The things I do to self care are primarily baths. I don’t know what I is about them, maybe it’s the heat, but when I get out I feel like I can take on the world and that’s exactly how we need to help ourselves feel. I also love sheet masks, their easy and don’t take a lot of preparation but thy can make you feel like you just went to the spa and got a relaxing facial and I love that. They’re easy to mix up and use what you need depending on your needs for that day which I love.

Exercise is also a goodie. I like hot yoga  but don’t currently have a studio I’m doing it out of. Spinning is super hard and that’s one of the reasons I love it so if you’re down for a challenge it’s a solid option. But if you don’t like classes just going and doing an hour on the elliptical is also one I like. Clearly I’m not afraid of sweating it out, but I think it can be super therapeutic.

And my last self care relaxation activity that I want to share is some on the couch, in bed, in the bath, wherever vegging. I like to watch my favorite YouTube vlogs or reality tv something that isn’t crazy involved but I enjoy and just take an hour or so to sit down clear my head and get wrapped up in something else. Reading is also a good head clearing activity but I save my books for reading in breaks at work.

So while I hope your 2017 was less stressful than mine but I hope we all have amazing 2018s and continue to work towards our life goals. It can be hard and trying but keep the your course you’ll get there!
xx
