So I have wanted to try Milk Makeup for AGES! But for some reason I haven’t gotten around to it. I honestly cannot tell you why, I love Milk’s branding and brand concept. I even love their studio space which I interned on photo shoots shot there. Lovely. Milk is cool. And to me Milk is very New York.
But forgive me! We’re not here to talk about the Milk Brand we’re here to talk about their cool girl beauty line off shoot! So after a TON of umm-ing and ahh-ing over what to try and which was the best fit for me and my actual real life as a non-New Yorker but hopefully still cool girl. Eventually after two trips to Sephora, which I believe is the exclusive retailer outside of their own website,I finally came to a decision.
I picked up the Sunshine Oil Skin Tint in Deep and the small Face Gloss, which I have wanted since I heard about Milk Makeup. Honorable mention: the Glitter Stick in Techno, I saw the full size version of this loved it didn’t get it. Thought they didn’t have the minis because I confused myself on the color of the stick versus the color I swatched. Then proceeded to make 3 additional Sephora trips to two different Sephora’s and almost got it online on both Sephora.com and Milkmakeup.com before it sold out and I ended up with no mini and the sneaking suspicion I’ll get the full-size even though I’m not sure how much I’ll wear it because I need it that badly. Sorry for the tangent but I need to make sure you guys know that the glitter stick is MAJOR.
Now getting back to why we’re really here again, I tried these both on before I filmed a first impression because I’d been waiting to try them forever (read ~1 week probably less) and was going to the movies a perfect time to test out make up that you’re not sure how it will last on your face. Well, after the 3 hours including travel time and time spent being ready and waiting the next time I checked my face which was after the movie I thought I looked great. I expected to look a little oily but really my skin just looked nourished, like moisturized. Fantastic.
The face gloss I wore like a high lighter and a little bit on my eyelids. So on my eyelids it was a bit too sticky for just regular wear in my opinion and it also made me feel like I might look ill. I love a good glossy lid, just look at my Pinterest, but the editorial vibe wasn’t happening for me. I didn’t wear any shadow under it which may have helped both the stickiness and the sicklyness but it would take another go.
However the face gloss as a highlight was beautiful. The perfect natural highlight. Like really it’s not like big chunky glittery pieces (which is why I loved the glitter stick tbh) or an unnatural sheen. It’s just like the perfect, my skin glows beam. It really catches the light! I honestly loved how just organic it looks.
I’m sorry I’m yammering on but I actually really think this Milk Makeup like is the real deal and worth your money. Everything feels super light and nourishing, and it ranges from natural to like alien. I love that. Because sometimes I really just want to be an alien and Milk Makeup is here for it and Milk Makeup I’m here for you!
xx
ps. After I wrote this I tried out the Sunshine Oil Skin Tint again and felt that I got a little too dewy. So I went back to Sephora after a few other tries and picked up the mini Blur Stick. Honestly it goes on really easily and when I checked my face about 3-4 hours later I still looked COMPLETELY matte. I love it. It's awesome I also tried it with the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint and it worked just as well.
