Style Favorites: Maternity Edition

I'm currently 7 weeks postpartum and cleared to start getting back to "normal" activity. It seems like enough time to have had a look at what I wore during my pregnancy and to know what I really liked and what didn't work for me.  I showed really late, I was probably around 25-26 weeks before I had a bump that took me out of my normal clothes and even then I was still fairly small. Because of that I didn't really invest in maternity clothing. By the time I got to the point where things didn't fit or I didn't like how they fit I was less than 10 weeks from my due date. That said, we had 3 weddings to attend this year and my baby shower. I also worked until I went into labor, which was luckily a Sunday, so I did have to dress myself until the end. Another disclaimer, I was able to have a relaxed wardrobe for work which also kept me from buying more maternity wear and using what I had in my closet. My first favorite: Black Blanqi Maternity Leggings . I was re

Mane Event: Carol’s Daughter Coco Creme

I was very lucky to receive some complementary products from Carol’s Daughter c/o Influenster to try out. I’ve used some Carol’s Daughter products before and liked them but they aren’t something I use regularly because they’re a bit pricey for me at the moment. BUT I received these for the purpose of reviewing them and so obviously I tried them out ASAP. Why? Because I’m a hair product junkie and I’ll try out all of the hair products you want to give me. I’m also in the process of trying to get some extra growth out of my hair before my birthday in 3 weeks so wish me luck.
But anyways back to the products I just got! I received the Carol’s Daughter Coco Creme Velvet Cream Hair Mask and Curl Enhancing Moisture Butter. Hell yes. I LOVE hair masks. Doesn’t everyone? You rinse them out and you (hopefully) feel like you have new hair! Magic in a jar. I love it. But anyways I tried this one out Monday night because I needed to wash my hair anyways and I got a brand new extra step to try and because I’m impatient I tried right away. I used this with my customized shampoo and conditioner from Function of Beauty. After I rinse out my conditioner my hair feels relatively soft and is mostly detangled. I put the Carol’s Daughter Velvet Cream Hair Mask in and because it was late by the time I was using it I covered my hair with a plastic hair cap and left it in over night. Honestly, when I washed out my hair in the morning my hair felt SO SOFT. It got a bit tangled again from rinsing it upside down and being unable to spent time detangling it again but it felt awesome!
I don’t use towels on my hair to try and prevent extra tugging and drying so I just squeezed my hair out when I was done. I then used two scalp oils and Cantu leave in conditioner and topped it off with the Carol’s Daughter Curl Enhancing Moisture Butter. So when they say butter they really mean it. This is REALLY thick and I was really rushing when I used it. You really don’t need much I probably used more than I needed. My hair however feels great and im super excited to use this with a wash and go style where I find mosirture just evaporates from my hair. I’ll definitely be experimenting with these more and I’m so glad to have them in my cabinet!

After trying these out more I can really say the Coco Creme  velvet crepe hair mask makes my hair so soft although it’s not going to help with any detangling. The Coco Creme  curl enhancing moisture butter makes my hair curl so nicely! I hope you can tell at least a bit from the picture! Sorry I didn’t smile or anything but I’m internally really happy with my hair!
xx
