Style Favorites: Maternity Edition

I'm currently 7 weeks postpartum and cleared to start getting back to "normal" activity. It seems like enough time to have had a look at what I wore during my pregnancy and to know what I really liked and what didn't work for me.  I showed really late, I was probably around 25-26 weeks before I had a bump that took me out of my normal clothes and even then I was still fairly small. Because of that I didn't really invest in maternity clothing. By the time I got to the point where things didn't fit or I didn't like how they fit I was less than 10 weeks from my due date. That said, we had 3 weddings to attend this year and my baby shower. I also worked until I went into labor, which was luckily a Sunday, so I did have to dress myself until the end. Another disclaimer, I was able to have a relaxed wardrobe for work which also kept me from buying more maternity wear and using what I had in my closet. App suggestions

So I've recently been on a mission to as I humorously put it, "get cute". Which not so cutely involves many logged gym hours and worst of all the dreaded "diet". See for me I never like to "diet", it's probably one of the ugliest words in the english language and has tons of sucky associations that go along with it. I don't like it so I don't use it. However this is a key factor in the act of getting cute so along with upping my veggie intake (I love veggies so this isn't bad) there's the cutting back factor that goes with it. I'm way better at portion control than "diets" those ugly little things. Well anyways the purpose of my post is to share an incredibly handy little tool I've found in the non-"diet" dieting arena. The people at MedHelp.org (I don't really know much about the website) have a handy little app called My Diet Diary. I figured a diet diary would help me pay attention to how much I eat when. While I'm mostly just trying to tone up and drop a few before the warmer months I've found that this little app is super motivating. It has a feature that lets you add in your foods and I'm not sure where all of the calorie counts come from but it counts your calories for you, helps you keep track of them and lets you know when you've gone over your sort of daily allotment. It adjusts for your goal weight and when you want to hit it and factors in your exercise to the mix as well. It's really helpful and I get excited to add in all the calories I burned on my gym days. I've been finding it helpful even though I haven't been able to update the weight stuff but it helps to keep you motivated and on track. If you're looking to tone up before the weather gets really nice this could be a great tool!
