Style Favorites: Maternity Edition

I'm currently 7 weeks postpartum and cleared to start getting back to "normal" activity. It seems like enough time to have had a look at what I wore during my pregnancy and to know what I really liked and what didn't work for me.  I showed really late, I was probably around 25-26 weeks before I had a bump that took me out of my normal clothes and even then I was still fairly small. Because of that I didn't really invest in maternity clothing. By the time I got to the point where things didn't fit or I didn't like how they fit I was less than 10 weeks from my due date. That said, we had 3 weddings to attend this year and my baby shower. I also worked until I went into labor, which was luckily a Sunday, so I did have to dress myself until the end. Another disclaimer, I was able to have a relaxed wardrobe for work which also kept me from buying more maternity wear and using what I had in my closet. My first favorite: Black Blanqi Maternity Leggings . I was re

What to Wear...

There are times in all of our lives when we want to impress someone. Maybe a potential boss, maybe our friends, maybe a date. I've got a what to wear to an interview brewing so look out for that but for now we're talking dates. Until about two or three years ago (honestly I just don't feel like doing the math to figure it out exactly but like it's around then) I'd never been on a "date". True story. High school just wasn't like that for me. I wasn't like an outcast or something and no one talked to me, like I had friends, I had friends I still have, I had friends I don't still have and I had friends that were guys. I just could not get that whole crush, dating, boyfriend thing down. I definitely felt like I was missing out on something (probably due to popular culture drilling that whole dating thing in early) but I just kept it moving. But eventually in college things changed I didn't really have too many dates while I was at school but things were moving.
Now though I've kind of figured out things that work for me and I went on a first date a few weeks ago. Nerve racking really. You're like excited to go do something with someone you're interested in but also like worried that it'll suck and you'll have to navigate that whole scenario.

BUT ANYWAYS! Sorry for the whole long history!! What I really wanted to do was share how I went about trying to find the sweet spot between put together and casual dinner date. First I went for a day dress, for me it was a good balance of effort with out looking too try-hard in a more nighttime dress. I also wore little ankle boots which made sense for the weather but I also love. They also have a little heel which makes me feel a little more put together.
Then I finished it off with my big furry jacket and my plaid scarf. They're good for the cold weather and also show a bit of my personality. I thought it was a fun way to dress for an early date without being too intimidating.
