Style Favorites: Maternity Edition

I'm currently 7 weeks postpartum and cleared to start getting back to "normal" activity. It seems like enough time to have had a look at what I wore during my pregnancy and to know what I really liked and what didn't work for me.  I showed really late, I was probably around 25-26 weeks before I had a bump that took me out of my normal clothes and even then I was still fairly small. Because of that I didn't really invest in maternity clothing. By the time I got to the point where things didn't fit or I didn't like how they fit I was less than 10 weeks from my due date. That said, we had 3 weddings to attend this year and my baby shower. I also worked until I went into labor, which was luckily a Sunday, so I did have to dress myself until the end. Another disclaimer, I was able to have a relaxed wardrobe for work which also kept me from buying more maternity wear and using what I had in my closet. My first favorite: Black Blanqi Maternity Leggings . I was re

Skin-antics

While I was in NYC recently I went to the Atlantic Center or something like that in Brooklyn with my frand. While we were popping around (we stopped at the MAC station and the Target, I wanted to pop in to Uniqlo but scratched it and we had lunch nearby) I came across the makeup section in Target. We went to get me some ibuprofen because the Zola concert and festivities the night before left me with stomach soreness more than anything else. But the person who makes the store layouts puts the hair and makeup isle right next to the pharmacy. So of course I had a quick browse which turned into a sneaky purchase.

I had heard of the Shea Moisture brand because of hair products before, I've owned some so I was pretty familiar. I also know they do hair color now and also have a make up range. I've never seen the make up in stores until this trip. So I had a quick look at what they had and decided to pick up their CC cream in Dark. They had a bunch of shades for the sheer foundation, I think it was called, but I'm really into the whole BB/CC cream thing. I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to make up and I just want something that's gonna do the job when I want it and wont be a big fuss. There were around 10 shades for the sheer foundation and 5 for the CC cream.

I wanted to try it out right away but decided to wait until I got home and could put it on and see how it wore and have the time to take it off it wasn't wearing well or matching well. It's a pretty thick formula which I liked, kind of like putting on a heavy moisturizer, and the color blended extremely well. It says it's buildable so I tried that out on some places with hyper pigmentation and it covered them nicely. I don't have too many skin problems just trying to even out my skin tone and it did a great job.
I then wanted to see how it would wear throughout the day and after 4-6 hours it was still looking pretty great. I didn't look too oily and it didn't feel super heavy and uncomfortable it really settled like a moisturizer. I wore it again yesterday for a few hours but dampened my face before applying it and it definitely didn't wear as well so I would suggest applying it to dry skin. Overall I'm super happy with my purchase especially for the price (shelling out $15 on brand expectation isn't really my thing). Just wanted to give my opinion since I have had a hard time with BB/CC creams for darker skin tones and thought this might help someone whose thinking of trying this out!
